Mate Requirements - Qualification as a Captain on one or several of the following rivers: - Danube - Dutch and Belgian rivers - Rhine, Main and Moselle - Seine, Rhône and Saône - A or B river patent - Radar and radio certificate for the respective areas of operation - Ability to communicate in German for navigation purposes - Ability to communicate in English with guests and company personnel. - Leadership skills - Good social skills and ability to interact with guests - Organized and dependable personality with a strong sense of responsibility - Safety expert. First aid and breathing apparatus training is desirable but not a requirement Role and Responsibilities - Represent the company values and visions - Ensure a professional and courteous service while managing the daily operations - Maintain company standards and operating procedures - Ensure the safety of the ship, staff, and passengers - Adhere and enforce the company “Safety Management plan” - Conduct quality controls and spot checks - Supervise all nautical-technical maintenance - Supervise and assist the nautical team in carrying out their deck work - Interact with guests courteously on a regular basis - Liaise professionally with local authorities during inspections and audits - Assist with safety equipment checks and ship maintenance following company protocols Side Tasks - Assist the captain with preparations and supervision of winter repairs - Assist with other duties such as luggage service, loading, and garbage off-loading - Assist with execution of all safety drills - Report any accidents or incidents to the captain - Identify “near miss” situations accordingly and follow up with reports - Participate in scheduled trainings, briefings, and meetings
