We are currently looking for an experienced Staff Chief Engineer to join Swan Hellenic Diana . Position: Staff Chief Engineer Vessel: Swan Hellenic Diana Embarkation: 09 December 2026 Contract: 3 months on / 3 months off The ideal candidate should have: - Proven previous experience as Staff Chief Engineer , preferably on cruise vessels - Strong technical and operational experience in a similar position - Good references and recommendations from previous employers - All required and valid STCW and flag-state certificates - Good command of English and strong leadership skills If you are interested and meet the above requirements, please contact us and provide your updated CV and relevant certificates for consideration. Position Summary - Assists the Chief Engineer in all technical, mechanical, electrical and environmental matters. - Ensures that all systems and equipment of every sub division of the technical department are operating correctly and are maintained to the highest possible standards in order to support the safe navigation of the ship. That all are in accordance with Company Policies, any National or International standards and in compliance with Public Health or any other prescribed regulations. - Ensures proper coordination and cooperation with different technical parties and departments. Reporting Structure - Reporting to the Chief Engineer. - Subordinates – Engine Officers and ratings. Safety Duties: - Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions. - Must always comply with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures. - Lead by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others. - Ensuring that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly. Delivering training, guidance and supervision on how to use and maintain them where necessary. Education/Experience/Qualifications: - Valid STCW95 certification. - Valid CoC A-III/2. - Appropriate certification as required by regulations. - Extensive experience as a Staff Engineer is essential. - Must have a strong ability to detect and identify the cause of machinery faults. - Physically and medically fit. - Moral integrity is required. - Public Health, Sanitation and Environmental training courses. - Alaska experience is a plus. - Public Health, Coast Guard and Port State Control experience. Language requirements: Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial. Computer knowledge: Good knowledge of AMOS, and Microsoft Office applications. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Required to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting. Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders. Lifting or pushing of up to 50lbs. The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules. Works in the Engine Control Room, Engine spaces with noise, light traffic, distracting environments as well as an office environment. Profile: - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead, motivate and develop a culturally diverse work force. - Punctual. - Proactive approach to problem solving. - Ability to be flexible, well organized, self managed and motivated. Handle multiple demands, remain calm and effective under pressure and resolve issues quickly. - Effective, full, clear and concise communications is essential. - Safe, professional and personal practices. Fully conversant with VMS and MLC requirements. - Well groomed and neat appearance. - Ability to deliver a high standard of technical performance. Status - Officer. Salary - Refer to contract. Rotation - Refer to contract.
